If you've got a little one fascinated by dinosaurs or dance—or both—Brontorina is a delightful pick that'll become a storytime favorite.
This book is just so cheerful with positive messages woven throughout. It's not just about a dinosaur aspiring to dance; it's about opening doors and making space for everyone to chase their dreams.
The book has a lightness to it, reflected in both the happy, almost whimsical illustrations. While the text includes some longer words (like brontosaurus, of course), the message is easy for younger children to understand.
As Brontorina whirls and twirls, striving to fit in her dance class, you'll find a wonderful opportunity to discuss important themes like acceptance and determination with your little one. This is one of our favorite books and I'm sure you will love it too!
No letter B book list would be complete without the "I Am The Letter B" book!
This brightly colored book includes an array of 'B' words, making it easy for children to practice their letter sounds and letter recognition as they read through each page.
The enjoyable text and colorful illustrations are perfect for keeping your little reader engaged. We love this little book so much that we were sad to learn there are only 3 books in the series (letters A, B, and C) -- but hopefully Bumble Bee Betty will publish more books to complete the alphabet!
If you're in search of a book that's simple to read and teaches young children all about the b sound, you've got to check out "A Bug, a Bear, and a Boy" by David McPhail. This is a super cute book where these three - a bug, a bear, and, yep, a boy - take center stage, making it a fun read that's packed with lots of 'B' words. The pictures are just as sweet as the story, pulling the kids right into their world. It's perfect for reading together - and trust me, the kids will get a kick out of the sounds and the story!
I have a feeling "Please Bring Balloons" might just become a new favorite in your household. The vibrant illustrations are absolutely beautiful, grabbing your attention and pulling you in. The story is magical, taking kids on an adventure that makes every page exciting.
You'll find that the story sparks their imagination with a tale that's both sweet and a little bit mysterious. You'll soon find your child wrapped up in a story they’ll ask to read again and again.
Sprinkle some educational fun into your little one’s reading routine with this beautiful book! The moment the cover of "Baking with B" opens, its watercolor images captivate with whimsical charm, sparking joy in the eyes of younglings. Each turn of the page is an opportunity to discover new words that start with the featured letter. The rhymes are simple, sticking to the theme and making it easy for kids to follow along.
Amidst the giggles and pointing at brightly colored pictures, this book cleverly introduces a variety of bakery-themed terms. Not only do these terms begin with the letter B, but they also tickle the taste buds, perhaps sparking a conversation about trying something new at your next baking session!
The moment you open "Books That Drive Kids CRAZY!: Did You Take the B from My _ook?," this book will have your attention until the very last page. It's evident that this engaging read is perfect for parents and educators aiming to make phonemic learning an adventure rather than a chore. As you read it aloud, you can almost hear the giggles and see the gears turning in children's minds, wondering where that sneaky 'B' vanished to.
This interactive book is great for teaching the concepts of print as well as practicing letter sounds. My own children enjoy reading this entertaining story, and it's one of their favorite letter B books on this list!
As you flip through the pages of "The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear", you're immediately drawn in. This tale of a clever little mouse attempting to save his precious strawberry from an unseen, but ever-present, big hungry bear, captivates young readers with its mix of suspense, humor, and unexpected twists. The vibrant, colorful artwork brings the story to life, inviting children into the mouse's world and making the adventure even more immersive.
Kids are drawn to the narrative's gentle tension and the clever solutions devised by the mouse, sparking laughter and fostering a love of reading. This book not only entertains but also subtly teaches valuable lessons about problem-solving and the power of imagination, making it a favorite among children and a delightful read-aloud for parents and teachers.
Sandra Boynton is one of our favorite children's book authors, and this book is in our top 10! With the same familiar silliness as Boynton's other books, The Going to Bed Book makes the perfect bedtime story for little ones (and every other age too).
Follow along with the animals' bedtime routine as your little one winds down for sleep too. We haven't yet figured out why the animals exercise after showering, but we love the book anyway.
As You Read…
As you are reading to your child, point to the words on each page. Have your child identify the letter of the alphabet that you are working on and point to it.
Practice finding the different ways to write the letter B. Point to the capital letters and lowercase letters on each page.
Look at the pictures and name all of the items that start with B.
Pair the letter sound with letter identification. For example, practice repeating “B, book, /b/” for the B sound.
When reading new books, give your child the opportunity to predict what will happen next.
After reading a book, ask your child to tell you something that happened in the story. See if they can remember the main character or tell you their favorite part.
