If you’re shopping for a double strollers for big kids, you may be overwhelmed with all the options! As a mom who has been in that same boat, I’m sharing my top picks for the best double strollers for big kids to help you make an easy decision without all the hassle!
I know I’m not the only tired mom out there with multiple kids of stroller-toting age. So, what do you do when your kids are growing beyond belief and about to outgrow yet another stroller?
Think: double stroller!
This way, you already have a solution as your littlest ages up in need, AND hopefully your back gets a double break with that double stroller! We’re always looking for more space to keep our kids comfortable and our hands free. Happy kids = happy parents!
Can big kids ride in a double stroller?
When we think about newborns and strollers, we often think, “obviously!” Is it really necessary to consider a stroller when you have older kids? The answer is – YES! You might need a stroller for a bigger kid for many reasons:
- Activities where you’re on your feet for a long time (zoos, aquariums)
- Attempting to exercise with little ones
- Tired feet at theme parks (Disney World anyone?)
- A medical condition that impacts your child’s ability to walk long distances
Double strollers can be a good option for everyday use because they let you push two kids at once, often have a higher weight limit, and often have more storage space. The biggest downside is they’re larger than a standard stroller, so they can be a little more difficult to maneuver, especially when strolling through doorways or in crowded spaces.
There are a ton of options out there, so make sure you look for features that meet your family’s needs. Are you a parent of twins? Do you have two young children or two older children? Kids of different ages?
Here are some ideas to consider:

- Type of stroller: Tandem (one behind the other) or side-by-side stroller; color; look

- Why We Love It: While the price of this stroller is on the higher end for your stroller for everyday use, the Britax B-Lively has roomy seats, multi-point reclining abilities, and a large footrest for your kids. There are two large, independent canopies that have ventilating and viewing panels with UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) 50+, a good-sized storage basket, plus four pouches on the back, and two zippered pockets for ample storage. The Britax B-Lively has an adjustable handlebar and self-stands when folded for storage to ensure a comfortable experience for you too. This stroller can be used with one infant car seat and one toddler seat, if needed. Although the Britax B-Lively is made with all wheel suspensions, the wheels are not made for strolling on bumpy roads.

If you’re looking to jog or run more, this kind of stroller may be a good choice for you. Baby joggers typically have a three-wheel design, and use bicycle style tires filled with air. This style makes the stroller easier to steer and more comfortable to push during your jog.
In addition, baby joggers often have a shock-absorbing system to make the ride less bumpy for your child(ren) and are often taller. Just like our everyday strollers, baby joggers have various features and add-ons, but they can get expensive, are usually heavy, and don’t always have a compact fold. Strollers with a Standing Platform
Strollers with standing platforms are a great option if you need to accommodate your children’s different needs. For example, if you have one younger child and one older or two bigger kids who are outgrowing a stroller, but still need some rest time, the strollers with a standing platforms are our favorite strollers to meet that need.
If your kids are vastly different heights and one is not quite fitting as comfortably under the sunshade, these are also great options to ensure everyone is comfortable and happy. The standing area can often be adapted to hold an infant car seat, or can be used as a sitting or standing area for your older child. Your kid will have fun standing in their new “big kid stroller”!
