Top Baby Shower Gift Ideas
These are items that parents will use on a daily basis and that a parent can never have too many of.
Many of these items are available with Amazon Prime’s fast free shipping (often arriving in just one or two days!). If you’re not already a Prime member, you can get a 30-day FREE trial of Amazon Prime here!
Clothing
Newborns, whether breastfed or bottle-fed, are prone to spit up often and have their clothing changed frequently. A mom is at an advantage if she has a good supply of onesies, sleepers, and gowns to change the child into.
Whether or not a mom-to-be has been told what the sex of her baby is, it might still be best to get items that are gender-neutral.
These clothes can be passed on to future children even if they are not the same sex, and gender-neutral clothing can still be worn by the baby even if the doctor was wrong about it being a boy or a girl.
When shopping for items for a newborn, it is best to get both 0-3 month sizes and 3-6 months sizes. Bigger babies will outgrow the smaller size quickly, and having the bigger size will save the mommy from having to go shopping right away.
I personally shop at Carter’s for my baby clothes. I love their Simple Joys baby clothes, both because of how cute everything is but also because of the variety they have.
Everything is soft and comfortable, plus they extend from preemie up to 24 months. Plenty of gender-neutral options for you to choose from!
Diapers
Perhaps the most important thing the expectant mother will need is diapers. Diapers, diapers, diapers galore. Be it disposable or cloth, she’ll need as many as she can get and she definitely won’t complain at receiving any!
Each mother has their preference when it comes to diaper brands, and choosing between disposable and cloth can be difficult. However, if you’re not sure which to get her (or if she doesn’t know which she likes more) then there’s inexpensive ways to gift both. Regardless, diaper baby shower gifts are sure to be a hit!
Disposable Diapers
For disposable diapers, I personally used IncrediBundles. You can decide the length of subscription you want to give, with your options being 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or a full year.
She gets an announcement package shipped to her or to you to bring to the baby shower. Inside is a premium plush teddy bear for the baby holding a certificate announcing the subscription. The certificate holds the code that they can use to redeem the diapers.
She has the option to choose between Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, and Member’s Mark Diapers. The diapers are delivered to their door and voila! Less shopping for the expecting parents to do!
You also have the option to include baby wipes in your gift so they can save more, but that’s optional.

Cloth Diapers
Cloth diapers are good because they can be washed multiple times and reused. Less expensive than buying several boxes of disposable diapers, but a little more messy than just throwing them away.
Simple Being Reusable Cloth Diapers has a large variety of diapers, some coming in sets and all able to be mixed and matched. Featured is the Geometrics collection, but they have so much more too! There are plenty to choose from and many gender neutral options available.
Plus, these come with five snaps on each side of the center snap, meaning these cloth diapers will grow with the baby. That means less replacement diapers needed! The new momma is sure to love this plus at her baby shower.

Baby Wipes
Alongside diapers, baby wipes are a necessity. Unscented baby wipes are usually preferred and can be better for the baby hygiene-wise.
There are plenty of brands of baby wipes to choose from that can easily be found online or in stores. I personally subscribed to Pampers Aqua Pure baby wipes through Amazon. That way, I could save a little each time and never risked running out due to my own forgetfulness.
It IS possible to gift someone a subscription, but it may be easier to let the new parents decide themselves if they want to subscribe after using them.
You can choose whether or not you want to use scented baby wipes or ones that are infused with lotion or other scented additives, but I personally would wait for them to decide if they want to get scented wipes or not.
Plus, it’s easier to decide after the baby is born so they can see how sensitive the baby’s skin is.
Baby Soap
Baby skin is more sensitive than others, so getting baby soap and shampoo is important. There are two brands I’ve been drawn to the most, so I’ll discuss them both here.
Babyganics
Babyganics has a large variety of supplies, consisting mainly of bath, cleaning, and skincare supplies for babies. All of their bath products are non-allergenic and pediatrician and dermatologist tested.
They have chamomile verbena and orange blossom-scented shampoo + body wash, but I’d recommend getting the fragrance-free shampoo + body wash bottles for the baby shower to be on the safe side.
The cute packaging is sure to win the happy parents over if the extra-gentle and thoughtfully-made brand doesn’t.
California Baby
California Baby has everything bath & hair, diaper cream/rash products, creams & lotions, eczema, bug & sun, and other “for the home” products. All of their bath and hair products are perfect for sensitive skin, contain no gluten, oats, soy, dairy, or nuts (except for coconuts).
They also are sulfate and betaine-free and are scented with pure essential oils.
They have a variety of scents to choose from – featured above is the calming shampoo and body wash that is perfect for dry to sensitive skin. Although lavender scented, all of their shampoos are tear-free and won’t irritate the newborn’s skin. Bring the shower to the baby shower!
(Please don’t LITERALLY do that. I don’t think they’d appreciate it.)
Diaper Rash Lotion
This is a baby shower gift they may think they won’t need but will come to appreciate. In my personal opinion, there are plenty of diaper rash creams that’ll get the job done, but nothing is ever going to be as effective as Triple Paste.
If you’ve found a better option, let me know, but thus far no diaper rash lotion has been satisfactory.
Although a little pricey, Triple Paste is absolutely worth the investment. The new parents will absolutely thank you later for this premium gift, and the baby will too. Triple paste is free from fragrances, parabens, preservatives, talc, phthalate, and dyes, and is made from lanolin, beeswax, and oat extract.
I swear by Triple Paste, my parents swear by Triple Paste, and I’m sure the new parents will swear by it too. And if they don’t, that’s their preference!
Bottles and Bottle Brushes
When it comes to bottles, it’s important to remember to get ones that are suitable for newborns – namely, their nipples have to produce the proper amount of flow. For their first bottles, I’d recommend the Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle Newborn Start Gift Set.
This gift set includes 3.4 ounce bottles, 2.9 ounce bottles, 2 additional nipples (1 slow flow, 1 newborn), 2 Soothie pacifiers, 7 sealing disks, and 1 baby bottle brush. This way they’ll have plenty of bottles, replacement nipples, a brush, and the extra gift of a brush.
The sealing disks are perfect for storing milk as well. Plus, it’s easy to buy more nipples as the baby gets older without them needing to buy new bottles each time.
Spit Up Cloths
Many baby clothes companies have spit up cloths. I enjoyed Burt’s Bees Baby Store and their extra absorbent 100% organic cotton burp cloths, both because of how cute all their designs were but also because they’re climate pledge friendly.
One of my personal favorites was the Hello Moon! set because of how beautiful the colors and watercolor moons were. All of their collections are super soft and beautiful, even the gender neutral grey and green options.
Burt’s Bees also has other items to pick from in their baby store and I highly recommend checking them out if you want to swap out the other items I’ve mentioned with something from their shop.
Swaddling Blankets
Swaddling blankets are important because they allow for the baby to sleep safely and soundly. They prevent the baby from jerking themself awake and allow for them to feel safe and secure.
aden + anais has a variety of swaddling blankets, along with other clothes and play mats. They even have their own baby shower gift sets for you to choose from! The swaddling blankets featured are their Flowers Bloom set, but there are so many other sets you can pick.
There is also the option to get swaddling wraps, which can make swaddling a little easier, but it depends on the parent’s preference.
Regardless of what you bring, try to go above and beyond! If the parents have a favorite animal or color, see if you can get gifts that match their preferences. Most of all, remember that it’s the thought that counts, and they’re sure to be happy that you got them a gift in general.
