12 Toys that Start with K
Last year, I started my series of posts on show and tell items from A to Z to help parents (like me) who were scrambling to find a show and tell item for their kids at the last minute. I included foods from A to Z, books for each letter of the alphabet, and toys for every letter as well. I decided to dive a little deeper and create move comprehensive lists for toys that start with each letter from A to Z – and here I am sharing the list of toys that start with the letter K!
Whether you’re looking for toys that start with K for show and tell, you’re a teacher who likes to have letter-themed toys for your alphabet lessons, or you’re looking for a gift that starts with K for a special reason (maybe you’re shopping for gifts that start with the same letter as your child’s name), this list is a great way to get started!

Toys that Start With K
Kiddy Dough
One toy that seems to never run out of style is Kiddy Dough, another version of Play Dough. My kids love playing with this stuff. Hours and hours of endless creations. They use the molds to make the cool shapes, and they make their own weird creatures. They mix colors and really just have an all around fun time. This stuff is fairly cheap, so. No hard feelings when it’s time to replace it with a new set. Easy clean up and no staining. A very child friendly activity.
Kool Kreepers
This kool chameleon is a pretty nifty toy for young learners. This chameleon can detect an array of colors and change its color to match, like a real chameleon. This toy comes with 2 sheets of colored dry erase paper that can be drawn on with a black dry erase marker, and the chameleon will follow the path and change colors and make a different noise each time it passes onto a different color. Your child can make up a unique pattern for the chameleon to follow.
K’Nex
I grew up playing with K’Nex. This classic toy is perfect for and child with any imagination. They can build whatever they can think of. If they want to make animals or bugs, K’Nex can help with that. If they want to build a jeep, with working wheels, K’Nex can also help with that. Engineering skills begin with K’Nex. Helicopters, cranes and castles can all be built with this box of plastic gears and rods and connectors. A very awesome addition to any household with growing minds.
Kinetic Sand
This stuff is pretty cool. Sand that automatically sticks together. No water needed. No muddy mess. You can mold it, squish it, cut it. Kids love playing with Kinetic sand. This set comes with 10 different colors with 10 castle molds. Build a large castle and create a beautiful scene with this magic sand.
Kite
The kite is simple, but so magical to children. There is just something about watching something that you were just holding in your hands float higher and higher above your heads and guid it with one long string. The kids are sure to enjoy this kite. Watch them take off running, faster and faster to get their kite to fly higher into the sky. And then see their amazement as it hovers so delicately dipping in the wind.
Karaoke Machine
Singing is a great way to let your emotions out. This Karaoke machine is the one we have at our house, and is perfect for children, teenagers, even adults. Whether they want to sing solo or have a duet or song match, this karaoke machine is a must for any beginner or professional singer.
The speaker is powerful enough to make you feel like you are on a real stage, and the pro-style mics make it an even more realistic dream. Set the stage and up and put on a show with the disco lights. You can hook it up to your TV screen, play a CD, or use Bluetooth to sing along with your favorite songs.
Kaleidoscope
The kaleidoscope has been enjoyed by kids for a long time. These simple tube are mesmerizing to young children as they hold it to their eye and turn the knob, changing the illusion right in front of them. The swirling colors capture their attention and they are somewhat stuck in a daze as they watch the shapes shift and swap to something even more beautiful. No batteries, no screen. Pure fun.
Kitchen Play Set
I just love kitchen sets. I always have. This toy kitchen, I believe, may be the best ever. It comes with the food, so you don’t have to purchase it separately. It also makes sound effects and has running water so after they are done cooking, they can wash the play dishes. The stove even makes steam when they cook, to make it even more realistic. I’m telling you, the kids are sure to start cooking a lot once they get this awesome kitchen set to play with.
King and Queen Costumes
Let the kids dress up as royalty in this unisex king or queen costume. The beautiful gold cape and the gold crown is sure to make anyone feel like the ruler of all things. Of course, our children are already our little princes and princesses, but this way they can feel like they actually look like it. Maybe have them dress up and serve them their favorite meal, fit for a king, or queen of course. A fun dress up day is wonderful to brighten anyone’s spirit.
Kangaroo
This Mama and Baby Kangaroo are a great toy for even the smallest hands. Baby Roo is detachable from Mama, so this makes for a two-in-one toy. Kangaroo moms carry their babies everywhere, just like we do when they are babies. This plush toy is super soft making it great for a first toy for a new born baby, or for any aged child.
Keys
The universal toy for all children around the world, before cell phones and tablets, is keys. When the baby is fussy and has a clean diaper, doesn’t want the bottle, but nothing seems to work, what do we hand them?
Our keys. They are shiny, they make jingle noises, and they are ours.
Make it a tad bit easier and get Baby their own set of shiny, noise making keys. That way, when it’s time to go, the baby can remain happy, and you get to keep your keys with you. This set was what my youngest son played with as a baby and toddler, and he loved it! Gorgeous colors and the buttons made it way more fun than mom’s keys.
Kitty Keyboard
My kids loved playing with this fun keyboard piano shaped like a cat! The microphone is retractable so they can sing while they play music, but then clean up for easy storage when they are done. The keys play real music, or they can press the buttons for more fun sounds.
If you’re like me and you shy away from “noisy” toys like this, just know that there is an on/off switch and a volume button so it’s not super obnoxious at top volume all the time.
